Why

We moved to Montecito to raise our family in a community where we feel safe, happy, and connected.I’ve been looking for the right opportunity to become more involved and contribute in a meaningful way to the place we call home.

Being part of a community means taking care of it.

I want to model for my children what it means to care about where you live. I want them to recognize and appreciate the quality of life we are fortunate to enjoy, to value the people who build, maintain, serve, and protect our community, and to understand that being part of something bigger than themselves is both a privilege and a responsibility.

Experience

20+ years public-sector finance, auditing, operations, and organizational oversight throughout Santa Barbara County

More than two decades of public-sector experience have given me a broad understanding of how public organizations function, how financial and operational decisions affect the services they provide, and what it takes to keep an organization strong and effective over time. My work has required me to look beyond individual issues, understand the broader circumstances, evaluate alternatives and implications, and help ensure decisions are informed, accountable, and sustainable.

GOVERNMENTAL FINANCE

Understanding the financial systems, resources, and constraints that shape public agencies.

Auditing & Accountability

A foundation in public-sector auditing, financial reporting, internal controls, compliance, risk assessment, and accountability.

OPERATIONAL LEADERSHIP

Experience overseeing business office operations, managing financial and administrative functions, coordinating resources, and balancing competing priorities to support the organization’s goals.

STRATEGIC PLANNING

Evaluating challenges and opportunities, weighing alternatives and long-term implications, and helping organizations make informed decisions about priorities and direction.

Governance & OVERSIGHT

Monitoring financial condition and emerging issues to support sustainability, supporting thoughtful governance, clear accountability, sound policy, and responsible stewardship of public resources.

Experience is valuable not simply for what it teaches us, but for the judgment it develops. The Fire District has an important responsibility to protect the community while making thoughtful decisions about resources, priorities, and long-term sustainability. After a career working with public agencies and providing financial and operational oversight, I believe my experience brings valuable perspective to the Board, along with the judgment, discipline, and long-term perspective needed to make thoughtful, responsible decisions for the community.

Candidate Statement

I chose Montecito because I wanted to raise my family in a community known for its enduring character, exceptional public services, and quality of life.For more than 20 years, I have advised public agency leaders throughout Santa Barbara County on complex financial and operational matters. My work has helped organizations navigate challenges, become stronger and more effective, plan for the future, and responsibly manage public resources. My background in governmental finance and auditing has instilled a deep commitment to accountability, thoughtful and transparent decision-making, and effective governance.I am running for the Montecito Fire Protection District Board because I believe those same principles are essential to the District's continued excellence. I hope to bring that same experience, judgment, and commitment to supporting the District and serving the community my family proudly calls home.
